The CADCourse team of Rob Berry and Dave Taylor have joined with IMSI's TurboCAD Director Mauritz Botha and the original TurboCADCAM brainchild Mike Keeney to create great new training movies for this amazingly powerful new third edition of the program. The experts joined in an online meeting to discuss the essential concepts required to machine metal either on a mill or lathe.

Over two hours of recorded movies introduce the fundamental concepts of TurboCADCAM by emulating the common procedures encountered in a typicalputs workshop environment. Firstly you will learn to set up specific tools to accomplish common milling operations such as pocket milling, drilling and even lathing. An example drawing (containing errors) is then imported from an externally created source via the DWG file format. Then typical design errors, such as gaps and lines not meeting properly, are quickly corrected with the help of TurboCADCAM's powerful constraint tools. The closed profile is then easily used as an outline for the milling and drilling operations. The resultant part can be visualized in 3-D simulation, along with its automatically generated g-code. Once you're happy with the code, you can then send it to your CNC machine via the COM port.
These training movies will teach you everything you need to know about creating g-code right from the setup of the machines, through the creation of the part with its associated tool paths, to sending the operation to the machine. You will get all the help you need from the IMSI experts including the original and current developers, as well as benefit from the added perspective of the support and training specialists from CADCourse.com!
Highlights of the course include:
- Preparing the machine to generate g-code by setting up the tools for the specific job.
- Parametrically change the geometry of the object with the constraint engine.
- Detailed tool paths with color-codes to represent either rapid moves, cuts or drilling operations.
- You're shown how to use the CAD/CAM wizard to setup the size of your stock.
- How to setup tools for the specific job.
- Set the origin in relation to the physical piece of metal in the machine, making sure to avoid the clamps that secure the object.
- Use both fractional and metric settings for specific tools.
- Use the constraint engine to generate parametric designs.
- Setup the size of the stock and position the origin.
- View your model in 3-D with full cutting path simulation.
- Learn about pocket milling.
- Visualize tool paths by selecting the g-code.
- Learn time-saving techniques with different entry and exit methods.
- Learn how to make changes for customer requests that come in at the last minute.
- Save the g-code and send it directly to the machine.
- Use the join polyline command to create sophisticated cutting paths.
- See examples of side, thread and chain offset milling
- Learn to use the engraving tool.
- See an example of a lathing operation with full simulation in 3-D.
- Quickly create threads and grooves.
- Create photorealistic renderings to send to your customer.
- Customize g-code for your specific machine including water cutters or even
sewing machines. - Discover the advantages of a preprocessor as opposed to a proprocessor.
- Learn to change g-code for the same part to apply to different machines.
Whatever your level of expertise with TurboCADCAM, you are sure to benefit with these excellent new training movies!
